Multiple books have been written and documentaries made about Jim Henson, but the general public is not nearly as familiar with the group of talented puppeteers who worked alongside him. Wouldn’t it be nice if there were more books about those other folks? For example, Richard Hunt — the brilliant performer behind The Muppet Show‘s Scooter, Janice, Beaker, Sweetums, and Statler, Fraggle Rock‘s Junior Gorg, and Sesame Street‘s Don Music, Gladys the Cow, and of course, Forgetful Jones.

Well, now that book exists. Very soon, casual fans and Muppet nerds alike will have the opportunity to get to know Richard Hunt by reading Funny Boy: The Richard Hunt Biography. The book was written by Jessica Max Stein, who conducted interviews with many of Hunt’s Muppety colleagues, as well as his family and personal friends. You’re sure to learn a lot about the titular funny boy by reading this biography.

Funny Boy will be released on March 15, 2024 from Rutgers University Press. If you want to make sure you get it as soon as it’s available, you can pre-order from Bookshop.org by clicking here, or you can pre-order directly from the publisher by clicking here.
