Kermit Joins PBS’ A Capitol Fourth

It’s almost Independence Day! So celebrate the red, white, and blue, but throw in a touch of green this year, because Kermit the Frog is partaking in PBS’ annual A Capitol Fourth broadcast. To what extent he will appear is not exactly clear at the moment based on PBS’ descriptions. He could be performing a song, or he could just be there to introduce a number from Train. We’ll just have to watch and find out*.

*(Editor’s note: it has since been brought to our attention by TP pal Scott that Kermit will be performing “Rainbow Connection,” to the surprise of nobody.)

This won’t be Kermit’s first time on the show. While his friends from Sesame Street have appeared on a number of programs over the years, Kermit (with Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Animal) appeared during the 2014 edition of the event, where Kermit unsurprisingly managed to work in a performance of “Rainbow Connection.” Obviously, there must be some patriotic undertones within the song that are over my head.

You can catch A Capitol Fourth on your local PBS station this Sunday at 8pm, so be sure to check your local listings to confirm.
