Every so often, an artist that we’ve featured in our Mup Art Show series finds their way back around to us. Usually that comes about because we stumble on some of their artwork and then vaguely recognize the artist’s name from months earlier. And in the case of Caanan Grall, that was happening over and over and over again.
When Caanan isn’t drawing Muppets, he’s writing and illustrating his webcomic, “Max Overacts“, in which the main character is a ventriloquist with his own dummy. According to Caanan, Jim Henson was a huge influence on Max Overreacts and all of his projects. In fact, you can see Caanan’s artwork of Jim Henson meeting Max further below in this article.
Another amazing example of Caanan’s work, a little further below the color art on this page, is his full-length comic about the Muppets finding Thor’s hammer. It’s truly inspired, and possibly the greatest thing to ever hit the internet. I don’t even want to spoil it for you. Just give it a read and you’ll see.

Kermit/Thor:
Many thanks to Caanan Grall for allowing us to re-post his artwork!
