RIP Character Actor Bill Cobbs

We are saddened to learn that veteran character actor Bill Cobbs has passed away. With about 200 credits to his name, Cobbs has appeared in films such as The Hudsucker Proxy, The Bodyguard, Night at the Museum, Air Bud, and so many more.

With that many films and TV shows, you’d better believe Cobbs also worked with the Muppets on a few occasions.

In 1985, Cobbs appeared on three episodes of Sesame Street as Susan’s father. He came to Sesame Street to meet his new grandson Miles, completing Gordon and Susan’s extended family.

Cobbs returned to the Henson world with a brief appearance in the 2011 film The Muppets as a viewer of the Muppets’ telethon. We have no way to know for sure, but we’re just going to go ahead and presume that he donated his life savings to the Muppet troupe.

Bill Cobbs had a long and illustrious career, and we’re proud to name him among those who’ve crossed paths with the Muppets.
