Just in time for your holiday shopping, Shout Factory is releasing brand new collector’s sets for Jim Henson’s classic fantasy films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
Admittedly, it seems like these films get new releases every few years, and I am among those who’ve purchased them several times over. But this doesn’t seem to be just another redundant repackaging of the movies. These are jam-packed sets complete with new extras, collectibles, and prop replicas to keep on display in your home. Oh, and the films themselves, of course – in crystal-clear Blu-ray and 4K UHD formats.
The Dark Crystal set comes with a steelbook containing the Blu-ray and 4K discs of the film. The Blu-ray’s bonus features include audio commentary with designer Brian Froud, The World of the Dark Crystal documentary, a picture-in-picture storyboard track, original Skeksis dialog scenes, deleted scenes, and more. The 4K disc also contains a new feature: a fan event Q&A with Lisa Henson.
But that’s not all! You’ll also get a 28-page booklet, a sticker, and a collection of art cards. Most excitingly, you’ll get your very own replica of the glass shard, as seen in the film.
The Labyrinth set also comes with a steelbook containing Blu-ray and 4K versions of the film. Bonus features on the Blu-ray include audio commentary with Brian Froud, a Labyrinth anniversary Q&A, the Inside the Labyrinth documentary, a picture-in-picture visual track, deleted scenes, featurettes, and more. New bonus content made just for the 4K disc includes a fan event Q&A with Brian Henson and Toby Froud, as well as a contact juggling tutorial.
Along with the movie, you’ll also get a 28-page book, sticker, and art cards. The exciting bonus piece is a glass crystal ball (with wooden stand so it won’t roll away), embossed with the Labyrinth logo.
