With little to no new media being created with the SGA and WGA strikes going on, who knows exactly when we’ll see some full-fledged Muppet content again. Despite this, certain live events and concerts are unaffected by the strikes and if this weekend is any indication, Muppets are at least allowed to appear at those.
First off, Animal made a surprise appearance at this year’s Newport Folk Festival (after Kermit and his banjo similarly surprised the crowd at the 2019 festival). He not only joined My Morning Jacket (who almost became the Electric Mayhem themselves) for a performance of “One Big Holiday…”
…but he came back during a set by Goose to perform, what else?, a tune by the name of “Animal!”
Animal wasn’t the only member of the Electric Mayhem making the rounds this weekend. Floyd Pepper made a surprise appearance at Tyler Childers’ concert at the Newport Blues Cafe in Rhode Island. He joined Childers and others to perform “Gonna Get There” from The Muppets Mayhem. The song is one of many great new original songs from the show and I’m glad they have new tunes in their repertoire to perform on occasions like this.
