We’re extremely saddened to learn that veteran actor Ray Liotta has passed away.
Best known for his memorable roles in films like Goodfellas and Field of Dreams, we of course know him best for his work with the Muppets.
Liotta is one of very few performers to have starred in multiple Muppet movies. In 1999, he appeared in Muppets From Space as a guard at C.O.V.N.E.T., who is brainwashed by Miss Piggy so the Muppet crew can pass by to save Gonzo and Rizzo.
In 2014, Liotta returned to work with the Muppets, this time on the other side of the law. Liotta appeared as “Big Papa”, a prisoner at the Gulag where Kermit is being held under false pretense.
As of now, there’s no confirmation that these were meant to be the same character, but we enjoy that particular fan theory.
As you can see, Liotta seemed to be having a blast working with the Muppets, and we’re proud to include him as an important member in Henson history.
