In these difficult times, it’s comforting to know Sesame Workshop is still able to do all it can to help children looking for comfort and answers. Just a couple of months ago, they were able to produce an entire half-hour special from the confines of everyone’s houses. Naturally, Sesame’s response was to take that idea and expand it all over the Earth with their next venture – Elmo’s World News.
This new half-hour special (sponsored in part by LEGO) will show how children across the globe are handling the COVID-19 crisis from their homes. In addition to our American friends Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Grover, the special will also feature reports from Muppet characters from various different co-productions all over the world, such as Raya from Gali Gali Sim Sim in India, and Basma from the newest, Arabic coproduction Ahlan Simsim.
Sesame Workshop has not announced a formal premiere date yet beyond saying it launches “this week,” but they do say the special will also air internationally in over 13 languages. In the meantime, let’s watch a trailer!
