In the past few weeks, LOST producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have had some close encounters with Muppets, as recent episodes of the LOST web video tie-in “Lost Slapdown” have featured Rizzo and Bobo crashing the writers’ room and the Swedish Chef working at the ABC commissary. In the new episode, Lindelof and Cuse reminisce about that day, way back in season one, when they held auditions for the role of the show’s mysterious and terrifying smoke monster.
This is my favorite Muppety “Lost Slapdown” yet, especially since there are moments where I’m pretty sure Bill Barretta is ad-libbing. And who would have thought that we’d ever see Big Mean Carl star in two brand new internet videos in as many months? Also, I should point out that in his news post on the Swedish Chef Slapdown, Tough Pigs’ own Joe Hennes expressed a hope that the next episode would include a Muppet version of the smoke monster… and now, here it is! Well, sort of, but it’s enough to make me wonder if Joe has been jumping through time, Desmond Hume-style.
