With an entire area of Walt Disney World dedicated to the Muppets, we had hope that it would lead to a bigger Muppet presence at the parks, and hopefully down the line, across the board at Disney. Unfortunately, after just one year of existence, the Muppets Courtyard will be no more.
Before you panic, this does not mean that Muppet*Vision 3D is going away. The attraction is staying, as well as the PizzeRizzo restaurant, but the area will be retitled, and we may lose some additional theming.
According to the official Disney Parks blog, the surrounding area will become “Grand Avenue”, an area inspired by present-day Los Angeles. The Muppets Courtyard will be renamed “Grand Park”. We have already heard that the area used for overflow of the queue to get in to Muppet*Vision 3D has already been removed.
Sad news from Orlando. Here’s hoping Disney has a greater plan for the Muppets at their parks, but it seems that their presence is dwindling a little more every day.
