Attention, all Muppet fans and Tough Pigs readers within traveling distance of New York City!
As you may recall, 2014 was the year of the first-ever Muppet Trivia Spectacular at the Museum of the Moving Image, in which Craig Shemin and Stephanie D’Abruzzo brought volunteers from the audience up onstage to battle it out over several rounds of Muppet-related knowledge. Unquestionably (or questionably) the most highly anticipated moment came when Tough Pigs’ own Joe Hennes and I, Tough Pigs’ own Ryan Roe, entered the arena to face off in a specially designed round for the title of Toughest Pig.
Everyone present had a great time, and of course it doesn’t really matter who won (Note: I won. I totally won. I’m the Toughest Pig!) because it was just so much fun. In fact, the whole thing was so much fun that it’s happening again, on October 18th at 1:00 PM. You can get tickets here.
The Toughest Pig round will be returning, but with a twist. Last year, Joe and I competed against a little girl pulled from the audience, which I’m pretty sure made us look like a couple of jerks. But this year, we’re giving YOU, the readers of this website, a chance to test your Muppet mettle against us.
All you have to do for your chance is answer this question in 50 words or less: “I want to match wits with the Tough Pigs because…” E-mail your 50 or words or less to me at Ryan@ToughPigs.com by next Wednesday, October 7th. We’ll choose the entry that we like best, and if you’re chosen, you’ll get free entry to the event, and Mr. Shemin has assured us that you will receive a prize regardless of what happens.
And who knows — maybe you’re an expert in exactly the areas of Muppet knowledge Joe and I don’t know about, and you’ll blow us away, much like Crazy Harry blows things away. By the way, Crazy Harry was originally called Crazy Donald in The Muppets Valentine Show, where he was performed by John Lovelady. And if you knew that, you should definitely apply!
