This year has been… a lot. But the holidays are here, which means we can all forget the injustices of elections and ride closures for just a moment and embrace capitalism! It’s gift giving season! THE MUPPETS
DIAMOND SELECT FIGURES
Diamond Select have been making Muppet figures for years now, and they’re not finished! Available for pre-order now are Sweetums, Uncle Deadly and Pepe, the latter two of which come in a pack together. The pre-order for Sweetums is currently sold out, but it’s worth checking in every so often to see if he’s back!
MUPPET SQUISHMALLOWS
Squishmallows are a big thing these days, so of course The Muppets had to jump on board. You can buy big old egg looking versions of Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Animal and Sam the Eagle, who my niece thought was a character from Angry Birds. I don’t have a link, but you can Google them and somewhere local should have them!
THE GIFT OF MUSIC (& BEAN BUNNY)
There are a bunch of places around the U.S of A showing The Muppet Christmas Carol on a the big screen while an orchestra plays along live. I’ve seen the movie like this before, and it’s breathtaking. Some that we’ve found are taking place in New Jersey (where I’m lead to believe everyone sounds like Rizzo) and in Philly!
FRAGGLE ROCK
SEASON 1 OF BACK TO THE ROCK
We all love Fraggle Rock: Back To The Rock! Who doesn’t enjoy the many adventures of Gobo, Red, Wembley, Boober, Mokey and Pogey? You know, the core 6? The Jim Henson Company has released Season 1 on DVD and BluRay, previously only available on Apple TV+. It includes commentary tracks on 3 episodes, bloopers, and a sing-along!
FRAGGLE PLUSH
But what about after you’ve finished Season 1 on DVD or BluRay? What if you want to pretend The Fraggles are in your house sneaking around trying to eat your radishes? Little Tikes have released some gorgeous Fraggle plush toys of the core 5 (sorry, Pogey) and of the beloved Sprocket, who looks so darn soft that I want to fall asleep on him. Here’s a link to Red on Amazon, but a quick look around should take you to the others.
FRAGGLE SWEATSHIRTS
Winter Water Factory, which sounds like it’d be super cold to work at, have made a bunch of sweatshirts featuring the Fraggles! Plus the logo for good measure. They’re fun, simple designs and look really comfortable, like you could wear one while you fall asleep on a Sprocket plush. They also have a ‘Which Fraggle Are You?’ quiz. I got Wembley.
TICKETS TO FRAGGLE ROCK LIVE
You could wear your new Fraggle sweatshirt to see Fraggle Rock Live, which is hitting 48 cities in 2025! Written and directed by John Tartaglia, the show promises to be a heck of a lot of fun, and will include walkaround characters, actual puppets, and giant Gorgs!
Hopefully this gives you an idea of what fun gifts you may be able to unwrap under the tree! Or, if you were sent this list by your Muppet loving family member, maybe what you can buy your nephew. If you’re more of a Labyrinth or Dark Crystal fan, the fine folks at The Jim Henson Company put out their own list, which you can find here on Facebook.
