RIP Sesame Street’s Emilio Delgado

It is with a heavy heart that we have learned that Emilio Delgado, best known as Sesame Street‘s Luis, has passed away.

Debuting in 1971, Luis was one of the longest-running Latin-American characters in television history. Throughout the years, we saw his romance and marriage to Maria, the birth of their daughter Gabi, and about a zillion broken toasters at his Fix-It Shop. Along the way, we were gifted with hundreds of memorable episodes, songs, sketches, and more featuring the golden voice of one of our favorite Sesame Street neighbors.

In addition to his time on Sesame Street, Delgado also appeared on numerous television shows, such as Quincy, Hawaii 5-0, Lou Grant, and House of Cards. Even with his Sesame responsibilities, he still made time to perform as often as possible.

Here on ToughPigs, we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing Emilio Delgado several times. You can listen to our podcast episode of “To Introduce Our Guest Star”, watch our group interview with the humans from Sesame Street, and this extremely old interview from backstage at Sesame Street with Emilio and Roscoe Orman.

And now, just a few of our favorite Emilio Delgado moments to remember him by:
