Shocking allegations surfaced today when it was revealed that the cast of the celebrated WRC-TV variety program, Sam and Friends, may not be singing in their own voices during their musical numbers. This accusation has rocked the world of this beloved local staple of Baltimore / DC television. Fans are eagerly awaiting a statement from the team behind Sam and Friends, but so far, those involved could not be reached for comment.
A source that wishes to remain anonymous sent an envelope to ToughPigs this morning containing solemn confirmation of this developing scandal. Video proof of now-tarnished TV celebrity only known as “Kermit” singing in two different voices is the most damning evidence.
Figure A
Above is a clip from Sam and Friends with the beloved “Kermit” playing his banjo and singing folk-songs, as he is known to do. In this segment, Kermit’s voice is high in timbre but masculine and confident.
Figure B
Figure A would appear innocuous, but when combined with the clip in figure B, it becomes clear that there is no way that “Kermit’s” voice could be authentic in at least one, if not both of these clips. Here, he is singing in a voice that could be considered feminine, sultry, and dare we say it sexy. This number makes “Kermit” a tempestuous musical mistress caught in the middle of this Lip Sync scandal.
No member of the Sam and Friends cast is safe from the tidal wave of evidence that something is amiss:
Figure C
Not only does this clip further incriminate “Kermit,” it drags the titular “Sam” into the muck and mire of incrimination as well. Here, “Sam” sounds suspiciously like Jazz impresario Louis Prima. Once again, “Sam” was unavailable to be reached for comment.
Fans of the popular program are livid. “I’ve spent my entire life watching ‘Sam’ and his friends right before the evening news,” says Baltimore resident Babs Johnson “well, after all this hullabaloo, they’re certainly no friends of mine!”
When asked, local hairstylist Gater Nelson bemused, “I just don’t understand how we could be deceived like this. How do these television personalities actually sound? How could we have been left in the dark, so to speak, for so many years? Is this the real life, or is it just fantasy?”
As of press time, we’re still waiting for a statement from the cast of Sam and Friends, collectively known by the mysterious moniker, “The Muppets.” Two noted Sam and Friends experts, Joe Hennes and Ryan Roe posited the theory that these television personalities were mere “puppets” lip-syncing to various old records owned by their “creator,” Jim Henson, but livid fans quickly rebuked that theory.
