Muppet Babies fans were outraged when they found out that the rebooted series would feature a new character, Summer the Penguin, in lieu of previously established characters like Baby Rowlf and Baby Scooter. But the real crime in many people’s eyes was the glaring omission of Baby Skeeter.
Well, it turns out that it’s not only the new Muppet Babies that’s missing Skeeter. Disney has officially announced that they will be removing Skeeter from all previous Muppet Babies episodes as well.
That’s right, they’ll be going into the vault and digitally removing Skeeter from all 107 episodes of the classic series. When she can’t simply be erased, she will be replaced with either a rocking horse or a second Scooter.
We hoped this might mean that Disney had the intention of releasing the old Muppet Babies on DVD, but no. They’re just so anti-Skeeter, they’re going into the vaults, removing her from the original Beta tapes, and then putting them right back into the vault. Dastardly.
Thankfully, Muppet Babies fans can be content with their new favorite character Summer the Penguin, who… is a penguin.
