Folks, I don’t quite know how to report this kindly, but after years of wanting a prestigious award, and finding herself on the verge of winning it tonight, Miss Piggy has been forced to decline the Desko Award after karate-chopping the presenter, Fellowship Of Outstanding Late-Night President Poisson D’Avril.
As Miss Piggy took to the stage to accept the award, D’Avril said, “Here’s to a woman who’s no stranger to making waves in the entertainment industry. Of course, she makes waves when she steps in a puddle.” Piggy gracefully brushed off the comment and thanked her executive producer Kermit the Frog and was about to thank her crew, when D’Avril added “Miss Piggy, we all salute you,” and then pushed his nose up to look like a pig snout and snorted. Incensed, Piggy hit D’Avril with a trademark karate chop before storming off the stage.
While the audience didn’t seem to mind Piggy’s brusque retort, the Fellowship was less forgiving, and asked her to return the award. Details are sparse on what happened next, but we did see a suspicious Desko-shaped mark on D’Avril’s forehead as he exited the ceremony, Piggy’s award in hand.
While we try to stay neutral on all major Muppet news stories, I think I speak on behalf of the entire Up Late with ToughPigs community when I say, “you go, girl!”
