Watch Jim Henson’s Long-Lost Animated Short “Alexander the Grape”

Did you know Jim Henson worked a short animated film called Alexander the Grape in 1965?  Neither did most people — that guy was full of surprises!  He apparently never finished it, but recently the ever-wonderful Jim’s Red Book blog over at the Henson Company website posted an entry about the film, which was rediscovered and partially reconstructed in 2009.  Check it out:

I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen a fable with a grape as the lead character before, so this is further evidence of Jim’s visionary mind. Also, I’m pretty sure Henson fans will have already figured this out, but that would be Jerry Juhl voicing Alexander, and Jim voicing Freddy the watermelon.

Don’t forget to check out the Red Book post to learn more about the film!  And here’s hoping the Henson people keep finding more great stuff like this in the archives!
