Sesame Street got nominated for an Emmy!

That’s nothing new.  That show has won about infinity Emmys over the years.  But most of those are Daytime Emmys, due largely to the fact that the television program Sesame Street airs during the day.  This one is an Primetime Emmy, and it’s for Outstanding Childrens Program, for the Once Upon a Sesame Street Christmas special that aired on HBO in December.  The nominated folks from Sesame Workshop are: Brown Johnson (Executive Producer), Ken Scarborough (Co-Executive Producer), Benjamin Lehman, (Supervising Producer), Karyn Leibovich (Producer), Stephanie Longardo (Producer), and Mindy Fila (Producer).

They’re up against Girl Meets World, a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade 90th anniversary special, School of Rock, and Star Wars Rebels.  That’s some tough competition, but I figure the Sesame special has the edge because it had Santa Claus in it.  Oh, wait, the Macy’s special probably had Santa too.  WHO’S GONNA WIN?!  At least we can be relatively sure Santa has never appeared on Star Wars Rebels.

You can read our review of the special here.  The Emmy Awards ceremony will air on September 17th.
