Rumor: Dark Crystal Voice Cast Revealed

With The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance coming to Netflix next year, we’re expecting more details about the series any day now.  And with news comes leaks.  And with leaks comes uncertainty.

With that in mind, we’ve heard rumors about the series that are worth repeating.  Hopefully there’s some truth in them.

The rumors in question involve the voice cast for the film.  Jason Isaacs (Star Trek Discovery), Helena Bonham Carter (the Harry Potter films), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones), and Caitriona Balfe (Outlander) are among the cast.  It’s not yet known whether they’re playing Gelflings, Skeksis, Mystics, or any other creatures of Thra.

The news comes from our friends at Trial By Stone, the Dark Crystal podcast. They cited a tweet from Jason Isaacs, which has now been deleted.

The original Dark Crystal film has an interesting history with its voice actors.  The first cut featured an unintelligible language from the Skeksis, and when test audiences reacted negatively, Jim Henson commissioned an English-language script written and their lines to be dubbed by new voice actors.

It’s also worth mentioning that Helena Bonham Carter was one of the actresses considered for the role of Sarah in Labyrinth, Jim Henson’s other well-known fantasy film.

While we’re not ready to confirm this news, we’re expecting The Jim Henson Company to make some announcements about The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance soon, including anything about potential celebrity voice actors.  Stay tuned, Podlings!
