RIP Roger Moore

As reported by the BBC, British actor Sir Roger Moore has died at the age of 89.  Moore is, of course, best known for playing James Bond in seven movies, in which he took Bond all over the world, and even outer space (in Moonraker).

Muppet fans also remember him for guest-starring in a darn good episode of The Muppet Show in the final season.  Not too surprisingly, that episode found Moore doing a lot of James Bond-type shtick, including a closing number sabotaged by spies, who are deftly incapacitated by the dashing actor.

Moore is also on the list of guest stars who performed a duet with Miss Piggy.  In Moore’s case, it was “On a Slow Boat to China.”

In his later years, Moore was a prominent advocate for UNICEF.  As Muppet Wiki tells us, in 2005 he appeared with frequent Muppet co-star Whoopi Goldberg and Takalani Sesame Muppet Kami at an event to promote an UNICEF campaign about the impact of AIDS on children.
