Muppets Cyclones

Hey, New York City-area people!  What’s better than a day at Coney Island?  A day at Coney Island spent watching the minor league’s Brooklyn Cyclones play baseball! What’s even better than that?  A day at Coney Island spent watching the Brooklyn Cyclones, with Muppets in attendance!

On Monday, August 4th, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Animal, Fozzie, Waldorf, Statler, Rizzo and Sweetums will all be at MCU Park for the Cyclones game versus the Connecticut Tigers. That’s a whole heap of Muppets, and indeed, the Cyclones’ Facebook announcement referred to it as “the largest collection of Muppets to EVER attend a baseball game…anywhere…in the history of ever.”

We weren’t certain at first if this actually meant the Muppets would be there in person, or if it might be some costumed characters or just video content on the Jumbotron.  But Tough Pigs’ own intrepid reporter Matthew Soberman contacted the Cyclones people and confirmed that it will be the real Muppets.  It’s a great way to remind people that the Blu-ray and DVD release of Muppets Most Wanted is right around the corner.

You can buy tickets to the game here. And by the way, if Sweetums ends up throwing the first pitch like I suggested in this article a few months ago, I fully expect to be hailed as a brilliant visionary.
