Seth MacFarlane, better known as the creative mind (and mouth) behind Family Guy, released “In Full Swing,” an album of jazz standards last week. Surprising us all, amongst the cheesy songs about love and other gushy stuff is a classic Muppet song.
MacFarlane included “The First Time It Happens” from The Great Muppet Caper as the first song on the album. You can give his version of the song a listen below:
Even if you’re not a fan of MacFarlane’s work, you’ve got to admit that this track is pretty great. Personally, I’d love to hear a version without MacFarlane so I can hear the fantastic orchestral accompaniment better.
Slightly related: This isn’t the only Muppet connection MacFarlane made this week. In his new TV comedy The Orville, his character comments on a Kermit the Frog toy on his desk. Thanks to our friends at the Muppet Wiki, we’ve got video of that too.

Obviously, Seth MacFarlane has a true love of the Muppets. And we completely respect him for that.
