With all the coffee table books, board games, and Blu-ray releases, you’d think Labyrinth was celebrating a milestone anniversary or something!  And lucky for us, the good folks at Archaia are getting in on the fun.

Archaia has announced not one, not two, but three new books based on the world of Labyrinth, set to come out later this year.

First up is “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: 30th Anniversary Special“, set to debut in stores this August.  This will be a 48-page book containing short stories featuring ancillary characters from the film like Hoggle, Sir Didymus, Ludo, and more.  You may have seen some of these stories already in Archaia’s Free Comic Book Day offerings in recent years.  Even if you’ve saved your FCBD comics for the Labyrinth stories, this book will have several new ones too.

Next up is “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Tales“, which comes out in September.  “Tales” will be a children’s book with short stories by Cory Godbey, who has worked on the Labyrinth, Storyteller, and Fraggle Rock comics for Archaia.  In essence, this book will be an all-ages version of the above “30th Anniversary Special”.  You know, for kids!

Lastly, “Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Artist Tribute” will be in stores this November.  “Artist Tribute” will be an oversized art book featuring work from tons of well-known artists from the comic book world.  For example: Mike Allred, Dave McKean, Eric Powell, Jill Thompson, David Mack, Faith Erin Hicks, and more.

For more info, be sure to check out Entertainment Weekly’s interview with BOOM/Archaia editor Sierra Hahn.  And be on the lookout for more info about these books and the rest of Labyrinth‘s 30th anniversary celebrations here on ToughPigs!
