Miss Piggy Statue of LibertyWhat’s more patriotic than the Muppets?  A lot of things, honestly, but that’s not going to stop them from celebrating our nation’s Independence Day on TV.  As reported by Broadway World and various others, Kermit and Miss Piggy will appear on A Capitol Fourth, which airs live on PBS on July 4th at 8:00 PM Eastern.

They’ll be singing “Rainbow Connection,” which doesn’t really have anything to do with America, although sometimes there are rainbows in America, and the song is from The Muppet Movie, which is all about driving across America to make it in Hollywood, which is pretty much the American dream.  So come to think of it, it’s the most patriotic song they could have chosen.

Check out the Broadway World article for more details on the show and some cute quotes from Kermit and Piggy.
