RIP Fred Willard

We’re saddened to learn that comedian and actor Fred Willard has passed away. Best known for his incredibly memorable characters in films like Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind, Willard also made his mark in the world of the Muppets.

In 1997, Fred Willard made a brief appearance in an episode of Muppets Tonight. As you’ll see below, he helped Bill Barretta get an acting gig, then immediately turned Kermit down for one of his own.

In 2006, Willard returned to the Henson family with an appearance on the talk show Late Night Buffet.

As with any celebrity, we’re grateful to be able to include him in the strong list of people who’ve helped make the Muppet productions what they are today. But in the cast of Fred Willard – one of the funniest actors in film – we’re beyond pleased that he shared the screen with Kermit the Frog himself.
