We are extremely saddened to learn that Cloris Leachman, star of multiple classic sitcoms and films, has passed away.

The world is currently remembering Leachman for her Emmy-winning role as Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, as well as her appearances on Raising Hope and Malcolm in the Middle. She also memorably appeared in films such as Young Frankenstein, The Beverly Hillbillies, and The Last Picture Show, for which she won an Academy Award.

Here in ToughPigs HQ, we’re remembering Cloris Leachman for her double-whammy of guest starring on The Muppet Show and providing a cameo in The Muppet Movie.

You may recall her Muppet Show episode as being the one where the pigs take over the Muppet Theater. Personally, I love the moment where she sings “Just in Time” while stranded on a desert island with Sweetums and Doglion.

In The Muppet Movie, you may remember Leachman as Miss Tracy, Lew Lord’s secretary, whom the Muppets need to circumvent by taking advantage of her severe animal fur allergies.

Lastly, Leachman appeared in the 9th season of Dancing with the Stars, in which Miss Piggy made a guest appearance. The duo reunited for a brief interview, despite Leachman’s attempt at avoiding Piggy due to the swine flu.

Cloris Leachman was hysterical and memorable in every role she took. It was always a joy to see her appear in various TV shows and films, and we’re so grateful to include her in two fantastic Muppet productions.
