We’re saddened to learn that jazz singer Al Jarreau has passed away.

Although Jarreau has had a colorful career, he has also crossed paths with the Muppets on more than one occasion.

In 1980, Jarreau contributed a song for the Sesame Street album “In Harmony”, titled “One Good Turn”.  Lucky for us, you can listen to the song right here, right now.

More notably, and more interestingly, he hosted the 1985 edition of “Happy New Year America”, in which he watched the ball drop with Kermit the Frog and helped to usher in 1986.  You can watch that video below:

Jarreau will sorely be missed in the jazz community, and we’re proud to list him among the celebrities that have worked alongside the Muppets.
